4-cylinder petrol engines

The general data

1.6 l (ALZ): the Engine рядный, with one верхнерасположенным a cam-shaft (OHC). The Camshaft is located in a head of cylinders and set in motion by a gear belt. The shaft operates on the hydraulic pushers located vertically which in turn influence inlet and final valves.

1.8 and 2.0 l (AVJ, BFB, ALT): the Engine рядный, with two верхнерасположенными cam-shafts (DOHC), has for each cylinder three inlet and two final valves. One camshaft actuates inlet valves, another final. The camshaft of final valves is set in motion from a cranked shaft through a gear belt. Camshafts of inlet and final valves are connected with each other by a chain.

2.0 l FSI (AWA): the Engine рядный, with two верхнерасположенными cam-shafts (DOHC), has for each cylinder on two inlet and final valves.
