Replacement of a cooling liquid

The cooling liquid should be replaced only in case of repair of system of cooling of the engine if thus the liquid merged. Replacement of a liquid within the limits of maintenance service carrying out is not provided. If at repair carrying out the head of cylinders, a sealing lining of a head of cylinders, a radiator, the heat exchanger or the engine were replaced, the cooling liquid should be replaced in any case. It is necessary for the reason that korrozionno-protective components of a liquid in process extra earnings are besieged on elements of the engine from easy alloys and thus form long-term anticorrosive protection. At the cooling liquid which was in operation korrozionno-protective components already substantially are spent and cannot create sufficient protection on new details.

The merged cooling liquid should not be applied again. The cooling liquid is poisonous and should not merge with a household waste.

Removal of a cooling liquid

At engines 2.0, 4.2 l (AWA, BBK) the cooling system is filled with a liquid on HUNDRED by means of the vacuum pump. If necessary, on HUNDRED of cooling system air leaves.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the bottom cover of an impellent compartment, address to Section Removal and installation of the top cover of the engine / the bottom protection of an impellent compartment/stretcher.

At opening of a broad tank on the hot engine cover a tank with a thick rag to exclude emission of a hot liquid and pair. The cover is authorised to be removed only at liquid temperature more low + 90С.

  1. Open a cover of a broad tank.
  2. Substitute under a radiator capacity.
  1. Engines 1.6, 1.8, 1.9, 2.5 l and the engine of 2.0 l ALT: Completely merge cooling liquid from a radiator. For this purpose take out lock скобу (1) gauges of temperature of a cooling liquid (2) of the bottom hose and take out the gauge.
  1. The engine 1.9, 2.4, 3.0 l: If on a radiator there is a drain stopper (2), turn it to the left and merge cooling liquid.

That cooling liquid to direct to a certain place, put on the drain union an auxiliary hose. If the drain stopper is not present, merge cooling liquid through an aperture for the gauge of temperature (3). For this purpose take out lateral lock скобу and then take out the temperature gauge.

  1. All engines except 2.0 l FSI (AWA), 4.2 l (ВВК) and a diesel engine of 2.5 l: Release a collar and displace it completely back. Remove a hose from a radiator (the marksman on an accompanying illustration) and merge the liquid rests. Then at once again put on a hose and fix its collar.

On an illustration the petrol engine is shown.

  1. The engine of 2.0 l AWA: Open a drain stopper (1) on a pipe of a radiator and merge the rests of a cooling liquid. Then at once close it. (2) – a fastening nut, (3) - the oil filter.

The diesel engine of 2.5 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Merge cooling liquid from the engine. For this purpose turn out a drain stopper (2 on an accompanying illustration). (1) – lock скоба for the thermal switch (the switch is already taken out).
  1. Remove a hose of a cooling liquid on a radiator on the left side of the engine. For this purpose open a collar (1) flat-nose pliers, for example, HAZET 798-5 and displace it completely back.

(2) and (3) it is not necessary to remove hoses.

  1. The engine of 4.2 l ВВК: Turn out a drain stopper on the case of the thermostat and completely merge cooling liquid.
  1. After all liquid has merged, again insert the gauge of temperature of a cooling liquid into the bottom hose and fix its lock скобой. On engines 1.9, 2.4, 3.0 l tighten a drain stopper.
  1. Put on a hose a radiator and fix its collar.

Filling of system with a cooling liquid

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Prepare cooling liquid from 50 % of potable water and 50 % of means for protection against freezing and corrosion VW/AUDI.
  2. Remove the bottom cover of an impellent compartment, address to Section Removal and installation of the top cover of the engine / the bottom protection of an impellent compartment/stretcher.
  3. Lower the car on wheels.
  4. Fill system with a cooling liquid through a broad tank.

Engines of 2.0 l (ALT), 2.4 and 3.0 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Screw on a broad tank union AUDI 1274/9 with auxiliary hose of 42 mm and length 100 mm or AUDI 1274/8 () with the extension piece 1274/10 ().

The union serves to exclude a modulation of a liquid after engine start. If the specified union available is not present, it can be made independently. Instead it is possible to remove also from the holder a broad tank, to lift it on height of 10 sm with the attached hoses and in this position to fix its wire.

  1. Uncover a water modular compartment, address to Section Removal and installation of a cover of a water modular compartment.

The engine of 2.0 l (ALT) and the diesel engine of 1.9 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Release a collar of the top hose and displace it back. Displace a heater hose back so that the ventilating aperture in a hose (an arrow on an accompanying illustration) was not closed by the connecting union.
  1. Open a ventilation stopper (the marksman on an accompanying illustration) on a pipe of a cooling liquid.
  1. Fill system with a liquid so that it acted through ventilating apertures.
  1. Close points of removal of air in sequence of an exit of a cooling liquid.

Engines 2.4, 3.0 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove a forward cover of the engine (an arrow on an accompanying illustration).
  1. Turn out a ventilating stopper (the marksman on an accompanying illustration).
  1. Fill system with a cooling liquid so that it acted at a ventilating aperture.
  1. Screw a ventilating stopper with a new sealing ring and tighten its moment 15Нм.
  1. Open a collar of the top hose of a heater and displace it back. A heater hose delay back so that the ventilating aperture in a hose of a cooling liquid (the marksman on an accompanying illustration) was not closed by the connecting union.

The diesel engine of 2.5 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Turn on on a wall of an impellent compartment approximately on 2 turns unions for removal of air from heater hoses (the marksman on an accompanying illustration).
  1. Fill system with a cooling liquid so that it has acted at unions for air removal. Some times compress hands the top thick hose. It promotes air allocation. Tighten unions for air removal.

All engines

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Close a broad tank.
  2. Start the engine and establish approximately on 3 mines of 2.000 rpm.
  3. Then allow to the engine to work on single turns so much that the bottom hose of a radiator has heated up.

At opening of a broad tank on the hot engine cover a tank with a thick rag that will exclude emission of a hot liquid and pair. The cover is authorised to be removed only at liquid temperature more low + 90С.

  1. Check up level of a cooling liquid and, if necessary, add it to mark MAX.
  2. On the heated-up engine liquid level should be on mark MAX, in the cold engine between marks MAX and MIN.
  3. Stop the engine.
